What Is 9 Square in the Air?
9 Square in the Air is played inside a raised 18' x 18' frame divided into nine equal squares, with one player per square. The middle player serves the ball up through the top of the grid into another square. Each player gets one hit to bump the ball up and out of their square and into someone else’s; if they miss, hit it out of bounds, or let it drop, they’re out and rotate to the end of the line while the next player moves into the grid. The rules are simple to learn, but gameplay offers endless variations, making it ideal for large groups, mixed ages, and recurring events.
