Playing 9 Square in the Air in the dark

You run an amazing camp, one that kids can’t wait to come back to year after year. This summer, create a memorable theme night that will have campers connecting like never before. A Glow-in-the-Dark 9 Square in the Air night has everything your campers came for: a little intrigue, a little adventure, even a little spookiness!

The first thing you’ll need? A Glow-in-the-Dark Deluxe Game from 9 Square in the Air, of course! But there’s plenty more you can do with your theme night that will ramp up the excitement:

Deck Them Out:

Your campers can’t possibly come to a glow night without looking the part. Encourage them to wear a white or neon t-shirt, and anything that has a bit of glitter. Create a DIY table where kids can create glow stick bracelets, necklaces and add some glow paint to create face and body art.

Flashdance:

Tell everyone to bring their flashlights, then have fun with upbeat songs at a glow dance party. Encourage the campers to use their flashlights to create a multi-beam spotlight when they see some fantastic dance moves.

See If They Glow Inside:

Serve campers glow-in-the-dark treats, such as glow-in-the-dark cotton candy and Jell-O. String fruit on glow-in-the-dark skewers and serve bright-colored beverages in neon cups. Use glow markers to create small signs telling the campers what each treat is.

Capture the Glow:

Between turns at 9 Square in the Air, provide the opportunity to visit a photo booth, where campers don neon sunglasses and glow-in-the-dark hats to snap a few photos.

If there’s no good place for a booth, a backdrop will work great. Use some neon flagging tape, a hula hoop or two and some balloons with glowsticks inside to create a fun spot for pictures. An instant camera or smartphone paired with a printer will give your campers a keepsake of the fun!

Glow Hunt:

Hide glow-in-the-dark treasures around the camp, with clues for teams to find them. Have campers use flashlights or UV lights to help with the hunt and have a quick award ceremony for teams that found all of the hidden items.

For younger campers, consider stamping out some glowing clues in glow paint footprints that help them find the treasures. If your campers are older, hide a few counselors dressed all in black around the treasure hunt area to spook them a bit as they hunt.

Campfire Glow:

After the campers are worn out from dancing and many rounds of 9 Square in the Air, gather them by the fire to close the evening. Tell a story full of suspense and mystery, or share a riddle that requires campers to work together to solve it.

Campfire Glow:

Encourage camp counselors to have their campers put their glow items in windows or hang them around their cabin to keep the glow of the evening from fading too fast! You could also commemorate your glow party with a keepsake, such as a glow-in-the-dark t-shirt or soda koozie.
